Sherwani has its origin from South Asia and then it came to India with Muslim rulers. It is considered to be royal attire and is accepted in India for special occasion like a marriage. Although, it looks similar to Achkan, but it can be differentiate by the material and heavy fabric.

This royal garment is widely accepted as a wedding dress for a Groom in Northern Indian parts as it looks elegant and culinary which match perfectly with the occasion.

Most designers and fashion houses have also understood this fact and they provide a wide range of designer Sherwanis, especially designed for weddings. It is mostly work with kurta and chudidar pajamas and the complete attire must match in color and fabric.

Wedding kurta for men is also the attire which is widely used in Indian wedding as Sherwani is used for the main wedding event and Wedding kurtas are used in the other wedding ceremonies like Sangeet, ring ceremony, etc.
